What Are The Side Effects Of Consuming Alcohol While On Mirtazapine?

Hi, I have a friend who takes Mirtazapine, lithium carbonate and escitalopram and smokes meth. I would like to advise him of certain dangers on mixing his meds with meth and alcohol. Yes - intervention is a chore but life is precious. I need to know the dangers of such interactions and what to do in case of a relapse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Mixing alcohol with antidepressants is potentially fatal. The same thing with meth and alcohol, both are potentiating each other's effects, potentially leading to death.

If this doesn't help your friend change their way, nothing will. I recommend you convince your friend to give rehab a chance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ornela Ademovi
