I have roussy levy syndrome/charcot marie tooth. I read somewhere years ago that there can be adverse reactions to some chemo drugs used on roussy levy syndrome/charcot marie tooth people. I might need chemo in the next month. Can you give me any information about these reactions?

Hi,

Sorry to hear of your disease. In fact CMTD is disease of the nerves. Many drugs used in chemotherpy may also cause nerve damage hence potentially worsening of the primary diseases. These drugs include Vincristine, Cisplastin, Thalidomide, and few more.

However, they do not cause nerve damage always. However your docket should know that you already suffer from a disease of nerve so he may avoid using such drugs or may keep a more close eyes on your nerves while giving any such type of drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
