What Are The Side Effects Of Cetil 500mg?

What are the side effects of cetil 500mg? I have been prescribed this for a cold I have had for about 8 days. The worst of the cold is over....only a cough remains and when I blow my nose, there is a green mucus. I ordinarily try to avoid antibiotics. Should I not bother taking it

Cetil (cefuroxime) is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic commonly prescribed to treat susceptible bacterial infections of the ear, throat, sinuses, and lungs.

It is not effective against 'cold' which is caused by different viruses. Based on the history given you seem to have developed infection of the sinus caused by a resistant bacteria.

I advise you to consult your treating doctor for possible culture and sensitivity test of the green mucus or blood followed by appropriate treatment by suitable antibiotics.
