What Are The Side Effects Of Zoloft And Vyvanse?

My 12 ear old grandson is on 25 MG of Zoloft and Vyvanse. I am concerned of the combo. Is this a standard for that age and what side effects should we look out for. He cries over very simple commands and at times his actions are more indicative of a 5-7 year old. Any Advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Zoloft is composed of 'Sertraline', which is an antidepressant and belongs to the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It is primarily used for a major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Common side effects include diarrhea, sexual dysfunction, and troubles with sleep.

Vyvanse is composed of 'Lisdexamfetamine', which is a substituted Amphetamine that is used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Common side effects include: Dry mouth, dizziness, sweating, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

Sertraline may increase the effects of Lisdexamfetamine, and side effects such as jitteriness, nervousness, anxiety and restlessness might appear. In such instances, you need to seek medical attention immediately.

Kindly take the medication as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up as advised by your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
