Hi my name is Susan. My adult son has recently started taking Xanax 2m extended release. He has a history of unusual side effects. He reports his appetite has increased significantly. I've gone through the detail and understood your concern. It's true benzodiazepines ( Xanax) have many side effects but significant increase in appetite is not been reported as a side effect until now.
Some other antidepressant meds can increase the appetite so you must check what else is he taking. Consult with the treating doctor to decrease the dose as well that might help.
