Antidepressants (all of them) are associated in some cases with increasing depression. Antidepressants, when they work, all of them, change mood and energy level and can cause a paradoxical increase in suicidality in the first few weeks of being on them as someone goes from totally blah, to having some energy and on the way to being ok. So... a depressed person should be on medicine. They should be watched closely in the first 1-2 months. There is an entire new drug industry of giving depressed people an additional anti-psychotic pill (seroquel, abilify, etc.) just during this period for this reason. (otherwise these pills are only for psychosis, schizophrenia, etc.).
