What Are The Side Effects Of Terazol 7 During Pregnancy?

I m 16 weeks pregnant and I have vaginal yeast infection (Vaginal Candida). This is my first time having this infection and I don t have diabetes. My doctor prescribed terazol 7 ( terconazole 0.4% vaginal cream) for me, however I read on the internet that it s not safe for the baby. Would you please help me with this so I start using it or not? :(

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Though terazole is observed to have no teratogenicity in restricted oral use
So Even local application is better avoided in first 3 months of pregnancy
* IN second & third trimaster can be given when it's benefit over weighs it's side effects. You are already in second trimester.. so it's your treating doctor's decision ( depending on severity of your symptoms )
I would advise you to re consult your treating doctor & follow his advise- as he has clinically examined you.
Also be informed that the treatment is to be taken by both sex partners.
Thanks.
