What Are The Side Effects Of Pulmicort Flexhaler?

I am currently taking 1 puff of Pulmicort flexhaler (90 mcg) once a day. My insurance will not cover it now. My dr is putting me on Arnuity Ellipa 100 much once a day. I am reading that this drug can affect eye pressure. Does Pulmicort have the same side effect ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pulmicort flexhaler is a steroid drug that is taken by inhalation. Steroids are known for the possible side effects in the eyes with increased eye pressure being one of them but this generally happens if steroids are taken orally (or injected intramusculary or intravenously) and also if taken locally as eye drops. Generally inhaled steroids do not reach enough blood concentration to damage the eyes and are safe.

So to conclude i would say, Pulmicort flexhaler is not going to hurt your eyes due to its effects mostly on the lungs and small blood concentrations that can not damage the eyes (increase the pressure in the eye)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
