What Are The Side Effects Of Prednisone?

With a case of sciatica, the physician ordered a 6-day pac of PrediSONE and recommended Tramadol for pain. I took two tablets of Tramadol the first night and began the PrediSONE treatment the next morning (yesterday) and today and ice pack usage). I have needed no more pain medicine. Concerned about effects of Tramadol, what about a simple Tylenol if needed for minor pain, instead? (I am not on any other prescriptions (at 75) and a little medicine seems to be all I need (when ill). I know the inflammation must be reduced, but is Tramadol required for little pain? Does not Aleve sometimes have more side effects than Tylenol? Thank you for an opinion. Winona Somervill

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

No, you don't need to take tramadol for little pain. You can go for Tylenol if there are no contraindications and you do not have any comorbidities. Continue ice packs and cold compress. Tramadol can be reserved s.o.s for severe pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
