What Are The Side Effects Of Oxycycline?

My ophthalmologist suggested I might take doxycycline because I have been battling eye tearing caused by dry ears for a long time. Nothing else has worked. The side effects of the drug look terrible. Is this drug typically prescribed for tearing eyes and should I even consider it?
