What Are The Side Effects Of Flonase?

is it possible to have a reaction to flonase? I used flonase 6 days ago for allergy issues and within about 20 or 30 minutes I was very nauseas. I vomited once that same day and have been feeling sick to my stomach to some degree all week. I also developed hives on the tricep and bicep areas of my arms, the backs of my thighs, my buttocks, and a few random spots on my torso. I noticed those starting to bother me 4 days ago, on Tuesday evening. I haven t used any new soaps, lotions, detergents, or foods into my diet and I m not taking any other medications except a probiotic most days.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Flonase Nasal Spray contains fluticasone propionate, which is a corticosteroid preparation and is used for Nasal allergy.

Allergic reaction (hives as you described) to this drug is rare. You need to discontinue this drug. Alternative is Nasonex nasal spray which contains mometasone, again a corticosteroid -a common prescription for allergic rhinitis/Hay fever.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
