What Are The Side Effects Of Depo Provera Injection?

Hi, I had the Depo Provera injection 3 months ago as contraception. As a side affect I immediately began bleeding heavily and have not stopped for longer than 1 day since. My GP has exhausted all hormone treatments and has suggested I have a Endometrial Ablation. I have been referred to a gynaecologist and decided to do some research before seeing her, only to find out this operation would leave me unable to conceive. Im only 19 years old and I have always felt very passionately about one day having my own children. Im very concerned and am wondering if this is really my only option, and if so should I have my eggs frozen now? Im so concerned about the possibility I would not be able to have children that I just had to get some information before my appointment. All the hormone therapies prescribed either made the bleeding heavier with large blood clots or left it unchanged.

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your query, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.

Please do not panic.

As you rightly said , you need not go for endometrial ablation as first mode of treatment as it will definitely affect your ability to conceive later on.

Considering your age, I will suggest to get a good USG scan-if possible vaginal. This will help to rule out ant structural problems with uterus and ovaries.

You can use hemostatic drugs like Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid to arrest or reduce blood loss.
As a resort to diagnose and treat this heavy bleeding, endometrial curette can be done .

Please get a appointment from expert gynec doctor .

I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
Wish you great health.
