What Are The Side Effects Of Carac And Desonate?

I have been diagnosed with lichenoid actinic keratosis on my face. My dermatologist prescribed Carac 0.5% topical cream to be applied daily at bedtime for 3 weeks along with Desonate 0.05% also once daily in the morning. My main question is should I expect scaring and also what side effects that I should be aware of.

Hi,

Carac (fluorouracil) basically an anti-cancer chemotherapy drug commonly prescribed for the treatment of lichenoid actinic keratosis. Its common side effects include pain, itching, burning, irritation, inflammation, increased sensitivity to sunlight, dryness, swelling, tenderness at the site of application. You should also be aware that it may also cause discoloration of the skin or scarring. Desonate (desonide) is a mild corticosteroid and its common side effects include itching, pain, folliculitis, rash, acne, prominent blood vessels on the skin, skin thinning.
