What Are The Side Effects Of Amlodipine And Hydrochlorothiazide?

Dr just put me on Hydrochlorothiazide 25 MG for High BP. Was taking Lotrel 5/20 and it was working great, BP 120/70 then Potassium started to go up 5.5. Changed to just Amlodipine 10 MG, BP now 148/78. Dr has now added Hydrochlorothiazide. Just reviewed the side effects, you got to be kidding me. There has to be A BETTER WAY.

Hi thank you for querry.
as side effect of amlodipine is concerned it causes sinus bradycardia,periphral edema,facial flushing,hypotension and dizziness.
but it is calcium channel blocker which is the 1st line treatment in older age group and second line in younger age group for hypertention after ACE.
HCT is thiazide diuretic which reduce the potasium level but it may cause pancretitis,hyponatremia,hypokalemia,volume depletion,metabolic disturbances and idipathic hypersenstivity reaction.
