What Are The Side Effects Of Advair And Albuterol?

My son is 24 and has asthma. He will be having tonsillectomy in few weeks due to large tonsils and sleep apnea/breathing problems. I am concerned if he will be able to use albuterol and advair inhalers effectively due to swelling. Also what if he has breathing attack while recovering? Will swelling get so bad it will block airway? He has been waking up around 6am for a couple of mths gasping for air. After a few minutes he gets breath back. Scary for him and me. General practitioner says possible sleep apnea. Ent doctor says he really can't say, could be tonsils, asthma flare or apnea. So frustrating. Just afraid he will have attack while surgery going on or during recovery and not have enough room in throat to get breath.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned but during surgery he would have a tube inserted providing air for him so there should be no problems once this tube is present.

He would be monitored very closely during the initial recovery period and if there are any issues, they would also be able to initiate treatment if needed.

If you are still concerned then it would be best to discuss these concerns with his doctor.

I hope this helps
