What Are The Side Effects From Long Term Use Of Metformin?

I understand that Metformin taken on regular basis creates loose motion often and when I have loose motion I was told that I should skip Metformin for that particular day. Is it so? One more question, I was told that Metformin taken for a long period will create deafness and memory loss. Is it true?
