What Are The Side Effects For Walamycin 5 Ml For Mucus In Stool In A Child?
hi, my son is passing stool with mucus, frequency of motions are 12 to 14 times and mostly after breast feeds. Doctor has recommended walamycin 5ml twice a daily but i am confused because he is only five and half month only what are the side of the antibiotic.
Explanation, 1. Generally the paediatrician suggest 2.5-5mg/kg body weight in 2-4 divided doses to treat the frequency of motions 2. You mentioned that the frequency of motions for your child is around 12-14 times so the doctor prescribed 5ml twice daily 3. The usual side effects due to over dosage include neuromuscular blockade that can leads to muscular weakness, apnoea, possible respiratory arrest and acute renal failure.
Hope this information helps
