What Are The Risks Of Accidentally Ingesting A Coin?

My 2 year old kid swallowed a coin. (5 cents) i guess. I called the poison control and they asked me to give him something to drink to see if he is showing any difficulty. He had few sips of juice without any sign of difficulty. The poison control recommended a ER visit ASAP. Should i take him to the er immediately or is it ok to wait.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. It is better to have an ER visit or consultation with pediatrician to rule out whether coin got lodged in esophagus or bronchi. Taking X ray will be helpful to rule out this. In case it is lodged in bronchi it can be removed with the help of endoscope. If it is in large intestine then nothing to worry.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
