What Are The Repercussions Of Consuming Grapefruit Juice After Taking Quetiapine Fumarate?
I was recently prescribed Quetiapine Fumarate, 25 mg. How soon before the loopy effect wears off? I am in no way schizophrenic, nor am I bipolar. I am, however, seriously depressed. I understand this medication starts getting results quickly as opposed to other anti-depressants. IS THIS MEDICATION ADDICTING?? Is it a narcotic. Why can I not take with Lorezepam? What are the consequences of mixing with alcohol? I just learned you can t drink grapefruit with this med. I LOVE eating a grapefruit first thing in the morning. What are the effects of this?
Quetiapine is not an antidepressant. It is an antipsychotic medication commonly employed also for its sedative properties. As I said it is not used alone for depression, only as an adjunct to antidepressants when needed. It is not a narcotic and not addictive.
Not advised to take with Lorazepam as can both increase sedation, the same goes for alcohol. Not recommended to use grapefruit as it increases drug levels in your blood which may dangerously increase the effect.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Olsi Taka,
