What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Xanax By Infant?

My 14 month old daughter will put anything she finds in her mouth, as do most kids. Her grandfather takes xanax 1mg for anxiety while at dialysyis and claimed he accidentily dropped one on the floor and couldn t find it. I was walking from the kitchen to our bedroom and saw our daughter in the hallway seem to pick something up off the carpet and put it in her mouth. I ran over to her and my finger was in her mouth within two seconds but nothing was in there. Shes not acting different or drousy as those pills make her grandfather but I m still extremely nervous. Should I bring her to the emergency room? We don t even know for sure if she took it. Any warning signs or suggestions would be helpful because I m a wreck with worry!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
If in doubt about Ingestion of Xanax, you should bring the child to the ER for Observation. Usually 1mg is a low dose to cause toxicity but can cause drowsiness in a 14month old child. take care.
