What Are The Precautions To Be Taken With Low Lying Placenta?
HI I have taken my US scan(anomaly) at 19 weeks 2 days ;This s my 2nd baby, 1st was a c section due to foetal distress. and i was trying for a V-BAC; and the scan report says i am having a low laying placenta , 1 cm from os , and also the baby is breech .. is there any problem related to this? what all precautions should i take ? whether the position of baby will change ? low laying placenta condition will change ?
The placenta is a structure which supplies a baby with nutrition inside the uterus and has a rich vascular supply. When a placenta is low lying then is can cause bleeding during normal delivery. Therefore a low lying placenta should be carefully interpreted and if it covers the os then a caesarean section is suggested.
The placenta can change position until 28 weeks ans therefore you should get another scan done subsequently to know the exact position of the placenta and if it has taken up normal position.
The baby is small now and it can change position from breech to cephalic. There is no need to worry about baby position based on this scan. It will surely change because 19 weeks is early and the baby will move a lot and occupy different positions. After 35 weeks the position is usually fixed and that will be maintained till delivery. Please do not worry.
