What Are The Possible Causes Of Low Grade?

What are possible causes of a low grade (99-100 degrees) fever? I ve had one for over two months. Labs were drawn and nothing came up throwing up any red flags, my doctor also ruled out lymes, strep, and mono. I feel rundown and tired no matter how much i sleep, and get headaches about once a day. Any idea what could be going on?

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Your fever is not so high to fit into the criteria of Fever of Unknown Origin (FUO or PUO) which has a criteria of fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit.

Probable causes:-
HIV; AIDS
Viral or Alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis, or Granulomatous hepatitis.
Kidney disease and urinary tract infections
Tuberculosis
abscess (Pus filled cavity) anywhere in the body.
Immune system diseases like SLE, RA
Some solid tumor anywhere in body
Heart infections
Bone infections
Chlamydia
Herpes viral infection
Fungal infections
Blood cancer, and vascular disorders
Endocrine disorders.
These are a few reasons I just listed for your overview. The list is even larger.

You need to consult your physician to rule out the causes and remember that upto 15% cases still remain undiagnosed in such cases. So be patient and cooperate your physician for extensive diagnostics. Your physician may need to run a battery of tests on you. Get ready for some blood work and diagnostics like CT/MRI testing.

Hope I answered all of your questions. Please don't forget to add your precious positive feedback to help me able to assist you better in future too. Have a wonderful time ahead.
