What Are The Normal Values For Triglycerides And Cholesterol?
Hello doctor. I m a little confused about my cholesterol numbers wondering if you can help. I m 47 year old woman and back in September I had my cholesterol levels checked. My HDL is 56, LDL is 119 and My triglycerides is 88. Total chlores. is 193. Is this bad?
first of all, the results of cholesterol should always be interpreted in combination with the overview on the general cardiovascular risk of the patient. Cardiovascular risk factors you might know already are: high blood pressure, diabetes, overweight, male sex, and age over 55 for women. I am assuming that in your case, most of these risk factors don't apply. According to your blood results that means: LDL should be lower than 130mg/dl for medium and low risk patients (which i think you are). HDL is the "good Cholesterol" and should be over 50mg/dl. Total cholesterin should be lower than 200mg/dl. Triglycerides should also be lower than 200 for low risk patients an lower than 150 for high risk patients. Your LDL/HDL ratio is 2,1 (good is when it is lower than 3). So in summary all your results aof the bloodfat-parameters are fine. All the best to you and best regards, hoping i was able to help you.
