What Are The Findings From The Chest X Ray Report?

I had a chest infection which my doctor treated with antibiotics and steroids. She also sent me for a chest x-ray. Results said, There is an impression of a very small opacity at the right apex which may be pleural thickening, however, suggest an apical view in further assessment. No definite active focal lung lesion seen. Heart is not enlarged. No pleural effusion. I was sent for the 2nd x-ray apical view. Then had a letter from the hospital to go for a CT scan of chest which is in 2 days. What does the report mean? Could this be lung cancer? I am a 61 year old female smoker. On patches now to stop smoking.

Hello. The report radiography means that you have a lung lesion, and a CT-scan is necessary to know better the origin of the lesion (there is no well-defined lesions in radiography, tc-scan is a more sensitive technique).Lung cancer in a smoker of 60 years is possible, but there are other different injuries benign that you can have.I wish you good health.
