Hello Welcome to healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query & appreciate your concern
The side effects of prednisolone like you mentioned Lung failure, cancer, etc are due to very long term use of this drug, which is in years.
Psoriasis is a Auto-immune disease & it require proper dosage of corticosteroids like prednisolone for 3- 6 months. Also your physician will reduce the dose after a month or two. This much dosage & time period cannot cause these harmful effects.
You might experience weight gain, moon like face etc. These short time effects will go after you stopping prednisolone.
So You should take the dosage of 40 mg as prescribed by your doctor.

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved
