What Are The Chances Of Gaining Taste Buds When Having Tumor In Esophagus?

I had chemo and radiation for my tumor in my esophagus and then lost my taste buds for food which was getting alittle better until I had my esophogectomy on oct 14th . Since then I can t stand the taste of almost any foods! Some ice cream, Popsicles, red licorice and. Popcorn taste ok. Will my buds return or were the important nerves removed like my vagus nerve was? I had ivor-Lewis procedure .

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have esophageal cancer and gone through esophagectomy. It destroyed your taste buds. Chances of complete recover is negligible. Partial recovery can occur in taste sensation. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
