What Are The Chances Of Conceiving Normally Post Recovery From Tuberculosis?

Good Afternoon Doc. - We recently did a MTB test of my wife after failing to achieve success in our family planning. The test is positive. My Doc has advised us to undergo medication for 6 months. My question is - Whether we would see normalcy in conceiving or we would still have to undergo some treatment like IUI/ IVF? Whether the antibiotics will harm my wife s fertility rate? If yes, how can the same be brought at normalcy and what would be the success rate of conceiving normally? Need your expert advice, please .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, greetings! Thanks for your query. Respiratory tuberculosis, after 6 months of treatment, if completely resolved causes on problem with fertility. But if the TB affects the uterus (endometrial TB) or fallopian tubes then this may cause problems with fertility due to tubal blockage. I suggest you take the treatment regularly, as well as maintain a good and healthty lifestyle. Hope for the best.
