Irrelevant talking can be due to various reasons like brain infections, psychotic episodes etc. In common presentation children with viral fever with headache tend to talk incessantly and innapropriately If the child has fever, disorientation, weakness and lethargy with neck stiffness it could point to meningitis. Do not delay in getting the child examined by the Doctor especially in such cases.
