What Are Tenderness And Pain On The Side Of The Tongue Suggestive Of?
I am experiencing tenderness on my tongue on one side. Toothpaste and acid -containing fruit such as pineapple make it burn. Initially it was thought to be related to a rubbing issue from my teeth, but dentist cannot locate an issue. Usually the issue subsides after I brush my teeth in the morning, but some things (like the acid in fruit) make it hurt even through the day
As per your complain tenderness of side of tongue which burns with citrus foods and toothpaste can be most commonly due to traumatic injury to tongue that can be caused by tongue biting habit, sharp cusps of teeth while can also be from causes like dry mouth, iron and Vitamin B 12 deficiency, I section like Thrush etc..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like Hemogram, Oral swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you should apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the painful area.. You should apply steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide over it.. Suck ice or do cool compresses over the tongue.. Avoid hot and spicy foods.. Take Vitamin B complex and lysine supplements.. Do warm saline gargles...
Hope this helps..
Regards..
