What Are Shortness Of Breath And Tightness In The Chest Indicative Of?

Hi my mom is about to die anytime hospice care. I m 46 fm and ever since I was told 3 weeks ago she had about 3 weeks left I started feeling like its hard to breathe like my heart is barely beating hard to catch my breath! My chest feels tight ! Then this causes me anxiety because I m scared somethings wrong with me. I m 5 118 lbs no smoke or anything else pretty healthy active. What could be wrong ?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have shortness of breath and tightness in the chest. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to GERD or acid reflux , but there can be other reasons also for symptoms you mention in query like asthma , heart attack , anemia or obesity.

I would suggest you to consult cardiologist also to rule out more serious condition . Doctor may order certain tests like troponin t , ECG and complete blood profile . Doctor may also refer you to allergy specialist for asthma .

For now avoid eating heavy and spicy speciallly at night , keep your head elevated while sleeping , take benadryl twice a day , take antacid after every meal and take proper rest . Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist for chest infection .
