What Are Red And Tender Bumps Around The Ear Indicative Of?

I have a small lump/bump on my head near my ear and a smaller bump on my neck below my ear. It does not hurt, but when I touch it, it is tender. It is a little red and has been there for approximately two weeks. It has not really changed in size. If I had money, I would go see my doctor...thanks, but no thanks

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red and tender bumps around the ear. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like atopic dermatitis, otitis externa, contact dermatitis , seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis or localize infection . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to rashes to reduce the redness or inflammation , take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day and do no touch it gain and again. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Maintain hygiene of that area. Keep area clean with betadine. Take proper course of antibiotics. If pus still persists drainage under anesthesia is the solution of your problem. Apply antiseptic lotion as well locally. If there is delayed healing due to irritation of ring, remove the rings for few days and re apply after healing.
