What Are Recurring Itchy, Red Rashes On Torso, Arms And Neck Suggestive Of?

My dad has a bad rash over the turso, somewhat on arms and neck for three months now. No change in meds, soap or detergent. Its very itchy too and red. Been to differnt docs, they give steroid inject and prescription ointment. But it coomes back again after meds run out. Labs done recently show high MVP, CLD and eosinophils. He s 68 yrs. could any of these variation of lab results be related to the rash?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring itchy, red rashes on torso, arms and neck with elevated levels of MVP, CLD and eosinophils which seems to be due to presence of infection in body, angiomas, allergic eczema and contact dermatitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do not apply cosmetic product on affected areas and apply cold compresses to reduce itchiness and inflammation.

- Keep yourself in moist environment.

- Take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl.

- Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate body.

- Avoid direct sun exposure to your skin as it can worsen the condition and do not rub or scratch the skin.

If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically and go for allergy test to find out exact cause for your condition. Doctor may prescribe anti allergic , anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
