What Are Hemorrhoidectomy Preoperative Procedures?

I would like to know the pre surgery preparations for hemorrhoidectomy. How similar is it to a colonoscopy? I am 62 years old and have had 3 colonoscopies. I would like to have this surgery this year for my insurance deductible and already have a Dr lined up.

Hello dear

Warm welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query in details .

* Preparations for hemorrhoidectomy are a bit different than colonoscopy

- Have to take gentle laxative at night the day before the surgery to get
smooth bowel passage the morning of surgery .
- Nil by mouth 6 hours prior to surgery .
- Shaving of the local part .
- Pre operative assessment by physician for fitness to undergo surgery
under anesthesia .

Hope this will help you for sure .
Wishing you fine recovery .

Welcome for any further guidance .
Regards .
