Visiting Dentist For Braces. Which Among Metallic, Ceramic Is Better? Time Taken For Treatment?
hello doctor..i am 23 years girl..i visited dentist for braces..he will put me self ligating braces as i wanted to get them done faster..he is charging 60000 fr metallic n 90000 for ceramic ones..doc plz advice me shall i go for such braces..i have my brothers wedding to attend after 2 months..can u tell me the exact time which takes for treatment n shall i go fr ceramic ones..is there lot of difference between too. is ceramic ones not visible??

As you said you have been advised to go for braces but did not specify about the alignment of you teeth and your jaw .
Yes, in comparison with metallic, ceramic braces are not visible and the wire used is also fibroptic which is not metal .As you said you want the braces to be visible then i would advise you to go for ceramic braces , function and treatment there wont be any variation in the type used , just the esthetic is the main criteria and difference .
See your orthodontist and discuss the term of treatment as it can vary from patient to patient .

first of all i should inform you that no body can estimate the time of treatment without clinical examination.
time taken by orthodontic treatment depends upon severity and type of alignment.
rest as far as ceramic brackets are concerned they are not very much of visible , and if esthetic matters surely opt for that.

Definitly Ceramic braces have esthetic value over the metal ones . These are transparent braces which are not invisible and gives good facial appearence as compared to metal braces.
Treatment time does not vary with the type of braces you are using .
Your orthodontist can tell you the time expected to get satisfactory results as this can be said only after clinical evaluation of your jaws ans x rays and accordingly to the teeth movement achieved .
so you need you discuss this with your doctor , you can replace the metal braces with ceramic if it is urgent for you .

But as you mention the wedding is in 2 months, whether you choose ceramic or metallic braces, the time period shall be almost similar and definitely more than 2 months. If your concern is more towards the esthetics, you can also consult about aligners and lingual braces with your dentist as these camoflage better but their indication in your case can only be decided once the malocclusion is checked clinically.
