Uvula, tonsils swollen, with white spots, cough, fever, inflammed throat, Strep. Necessity of throat culture?

Hi! Today I m almost certain that I m getting a throat culture . Unless my doctor can diagnose me without it. My uvula and tonsels are both swollen, there are white spots on them, I m coughing, have a fever , and my throat is enflamed. If my doctor knows all of this, is it necessary for a throat culture if I know I have strep?
