Twisted Ankle, Toes Pain. Limping, Unable To Walk. When Will It Heal?

I fell off a ladder yesterday and twisted my ankle. I can put pressure on it and limp around but it is swollen quite a bit. The main swelling is around the back of the ankle and on the outside. When I squeeze my toes down towards the floor it pulls and hurts up the back of my ankle. Should this be seen by a physician or can I heal it alone?

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.
As you have said, following a fall from ladder, you have hurt your ankle.
Swelling at the back of your ankle can result from injury to the tendons and ligaments. Rarely there could even be a small hairline or avulsion fracture in your foot bones. Plesse consult an orthopedic surgeon if you are unable to walk and pain not decreasing even after 3 days.
Hope this helps.
