Tumour In Breast Bone. Pain. Family History Of Tumours. Problem?

Good morning Doctor, I have recently discovered a fatty tumor on the left of center of the breast bone, just at the bottom of the breast bone, having had some discomfort coming from the center of the breast bone; Initially I ran my finger across the bottom of the breast bone and I felt a very sharp pain, this was about seven days ago, and have not felt a pain that severity since. Any pain felt since then has been comparatively minor compared to the initial encounter.
Would appreciate some information and guidance pertaining to this issue. Looking forward to your response. I am a 71 year old while male in good health. i have always had fatty tumors all over my body and this seems to run in my family, there has never been any type of an issue until now. Thanks norm

Hello,
Thanks for writing in with detailed information.
It is worthy to note that you have always had fatty tumors (lipomas) all over the body.
As with the present problem of a swelling below your breast bone, it would also most likely fall in the same group of lipomas. However any such swelling cannot be taken for granted.
May I suggest you to consult a surgeon and get yourself examined. Please be clear if you are experiencing pain and tenderness in the swelling.
You may also tell your doctor about any other swelling else where in your body for more accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Hope this helps.
