Trouble Having A Bowl Movement, Infant Suppository, No Improvement

Hello, i am a new mother of a baby girl . She is one month old and seems to have trouble having a bowel movement. She is formula fed and has one bowel movement a day but she pushes all day and seems to have difficulty. Her pediatrician told us to give her one infant suppository every night to help teach her how to bear down. He said it would help her have a bowel movement more frequently yet it hasn t helped yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please make sure you are reconstituting the formula properly. Concentrated formula can lead to this problem. Make sure you prop up the bottle properly to prevent the baby from swallowing lot of air. Burp her after every feed. Some babies may pass only one stool per day. If the stool is not very hard you need not worry. Otherwise you may have to try giving a few sops of warm water.
