Triglyceride Level High. What Can Help To Maintain The Level?

Hello Doctor, i recently completed my routine health check up & found my triglyceriride level to be at 191. I do not smoke but drink very occasionally. I follow predominantly an Indian vegetarian diet & would like to know from you what kind of food I should have to lower my levels? my email id is YYYY@YYYY

Your triglycerides level are high and needs to controlled by life style changes and medication like statins. Life style changes you can made are:
1. Avoid all type of fatty, oily and sugary food.
2. Stop alcohol.
3. Eat more baked food and take the food according to the calories you need per day.
4. Do regular exercise for about 30-45 minuted per day and reduce you weight if you are overweight.
5. Eat more green vegetables.
6. Keep your blood sugar under control if diabetic.

Welcome to HCM
Your triglyceride level is raised the desirable is 150 or less, It is good that you do not smoke and vegetarian.
Just check are you over weight and sedentary that is not having enough physical exercise.
Change your diet to less fats specially saturated one and any high calories diet must be curtailed.
Fats should give 30% calories and 10% from saturated fats.
A high Triglyceride level may indicate fatty liver so check with ultrasound and strictly stop alcohol as it can cause high TG level.
Repeat a Lipid profile after 3 months
Exercise regularly
