Treatment For Swelling On Head After A Hit

My husband got hit by a tree branch while riding in golf cart. It looks like dried blood where he got hit. No swelling that day. The next day he began swelling. This is third day and the swelling has gotten worse (near eye on right side of head). Any suggestions?

Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Delayed swelling after head trauma is related to small amounts of blood under the skin.

It is a condition that will pass through its phases (maybe you will notice dark areas) and could take up to three weeks to disappear.

Applying ice locally for a couple of days and NSAID drugs such Ibuprofen should help improve symptoms.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Greetings.
