Treated For Scarlet Fever, On Antibiotics. Can Go Swimming ?

My daughter is being treated for Scarlet Fever. She has been on antibiotics for 4 days now. Can she go swimming in our home pool or will the chlorine further irritate her skin or condition? Also, she has developed a cough as of this morning, is that common with strep throat or is it possible that she has a secondary viral infection going on as well?

Hi Dear
Welcome the board of Health care magic.

Dear friend cough is quite common with this type of infection.
She is already on antibiotic, need not to think of some other additional antibiotic, it should take care of all the primary or secondary bacterial infections. If given antibiotic is not working then one can shift to some other antibiotic.

Some antihistamine and decongestant syrup may be require in addition of these drugs. Hope this should take care of her cough.

Some steam inhalation and antiseptic gargles will be of some symptomatic help.

I think one should refrain from swimming for a week or so.

Hope your query is answered with your satisfaction

Thanks
