Tonsils And Uvula Swollen With Red Veins And White Spots And No Pain. Antibiotics Made It Worse. Strep Test Negative. What Could This Be?

My daughter is 3 years old and her tonsils are swollen with red veins and her uvula. There are some white spots on them and it causes her no pain. They've been this way for about two weeks now. I took her to the doctors and he said it may be a viral infection and to give it a few days to see if it is better. It didn't get better so he called her in a antibiotic which she's been on for 4 days now and they are still swollen, probably worse now and it looks like the tissue behind her tonsils are also swollen with red veins. Strep test done and it was negative. What could this be? I plan on taking her back Monday but I am very concerned. Again she has absolutely NO pain with this though it looks horribly painful.

Hello

Thanks for the query

It looks like your daughter is suffering from tonsilitis. In chronic tonsilitis the pain might be minimal or no pain at all. Like your doctor said a viral infection might have caused to enlarge, the tissue you are seeing might be part of the infection. Continue taking antibiotics as prescribed and also let her do salt water gargling with warm water.
If the swelling persists then please visit a ENT doctor

I hope I was of help

Regards
