My leg has been acting weird for a while like probably a year or so now. It feels as though like something is moving under skin lasting for about few seconds or so then stops. it happens many when i lie down. it has come to a point that it feels like a habit for leg to do this that i dont care to worry about it. i hit my leg as if a tapping and it would stop. What is the matter and what should i do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms can be due to:
1. Neuropathy due to compression of spinal nerves
2. Systemic cause like Hypertension & Diabetes
3. Dietary deficiency of essential nutrients
4. Electrolyte imbalance
5. Hormonal & Metabolic causes

Symptomatic relief can be obtained with nevigenics like Vit B12, Folic acid, but the underlying cause needs to be treated.
Kindly consult a Neurologist & get a proper clinical examination done including nerve conduction studies.
Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure & blood glucose values will be helpful.
Take care.
