Tightness In Chest, Allergies, Painful Chest, Family History Of Heart Attacks. Suggest?

hey there. my 13 year old daughter is feeling tightness in her chest. she is slim and has no record of any medical problems or allergies. the pain comes and goes and usually located on the center/left side of her chest.
there is no family history of heart attacks and her diet is of a non meat and non dairy.
do you have an idea of what this may be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,

I strongly think an allergic condition should be considered in this case. A family history of asthma is an important consideration in this case. Past history of breathlessness in childhood, night cough, wheezes are important risk factors. A clinical evaluation and peak flow measurements could be very useful. A chest X ray could be useful o be sure of the size, shape and state of the lungs and heart. Measuring of blood Immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels and raised Esinophils in the complete count could be indicative of an allergic component. Other rare conditions like Aspergillosis must be borne in mind.

Consulting a pulmonologist, and an allergist if need be could be of great help.

Thanks and hope this helps. Kind regards.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

You have not stated how long!?
The girl is unlikely to have any serious heart or lung problem...
If it was a congenital disease, it ought to have been detected by this time.
If it is an acquired ne, there are usually associated symptoms...
Probably, it is a muscle spasm
The wise option will be to get her examined and have some basic investigation – to make sure

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
