Tested Positive For Hsv1 But Negative For Hsv2. On Anti Virals Suffering From Infection Of Hair Follicle. Is This Contageous?
Help!!! About 7 weeks ago I notice two spots on the inner part of my buttocks and also a rash type thing similar to a nappy rash. The smaller spot was slightly painful but there others were pain free so went to the doctor, got the regular tests done. I went back two and a half weeks later for the results and it turns out I tested positive for hsv1 but negative for hsv2. He put me on a course of anti virals when I went for my first visit and by the time I went back for my results I had taken two courses of the anti virals but the two large spots were still there. On closer inspection the doctor confirmed that its looks like I was also suffering from an infection of the hair follicle so I was put on an antibiotic and given a cream. The smaller of the spots went but the larger onc remained. I then began to feel tingling in the place I had had the nappy rash and on inspection had noticed tiny red spots in this area so I began a third course of antivirals after a day or so the red rash was gone but yet the larger spot remains and is still there until this day. It's like a pimple but and it changes between being flesh coloured and red. It's soft to touch and in this whole time it hasn't changed in appearance and has not, from what I notice, leaked any fluid. I'm just concerned as I don't know if this is a sore as a result of the hsv1 or if it is something different. I'm in a relationship and my partner knows all of this but I am wary of sleeping with him while this spot remains as I do not want to pass it to him if it is herpes sore.
Hi, it may not be a herpes sore, it appears to be furanculosis, a bacterial infection, but to be on safe side it is better to be away from the partner till the infection is controlled. I to my patients with such symptoms, prescribe, a combination of ofloxacin and ornidazole for 10 days. Thank you.
