Swelling occurs after a tough wisdom tooth extraction
. The swelling reaches it's maximum around the fourth day after the surgery and then slowly goes down for about a week.
To reduce the swelling, put a bag of ice around the extraction area right after the surgery. Anti-inflammatory drugs also can reduce the swelling.
After Surgery you should initially apply ice, then after 24 hours apply moist heat. This will help in reducing the swelling. Swelling usually appears the next day after surgery and is a natural process of healing. For the pain take the Painkiller medicine prescribed by the surgeon
