Taking Mirtazapine. Will This Cause False Result For Amphetamines And Benzodiazipines?

I am taking mirtazapine. I recently took a drug test for employment and they want me to call. I assume I have tested positive for something. They are closed tonight, but I am going to call tomorrow morning. I have been reading that mirtazapine can cause false/positives for amphetamines and benzodiazipines. Is this true?

Hello
I am Dr Abraham. Mirtazapine can sometimes cause a false positive result for benzodiazepine. Also certain herbal medications can cause false positive results for benzos.

I understand that you are worried. You could have a talk with your neurologist/psychiatrist about the same.

Regards
Dr Santhosh
