Hi, the duration of the treatment for depression depends upon the individual, usual period is for 3 years, and if the symptoms continues it may be taken for life. As it is only one tablet per day there may not be any problem to continue it.
Practice diversion procedures like yoga, meditation, reading books of your interest, and hearing music avoid the necesity to increase the dose.

I understand that you are worried if you will ever be able to get off this medication or not. The duration of antidepressant treatment depends on many factors like number of episodes, severity and response to treatment, life situations etc. In your case, if this was the first episode of depression and if you have been well for around nine to ten months, and do not expect any major upheaval in your life in the next few months, a trial of stopping medications may be considered.

However, it should be done under medical supervision and the dose has to gradually tapered off. Otherwise, you will have problems and would need to start it again, as happened this time. Secondly, Escitalent plus contains both escitalopram and clonazepam. In my opinion, you should try stopping clonazepam first and reduce escitalopram only later.
