Taking Ecospirin, Rosuvastatin And Clopidogrel After CABG Procedure. Will This Cause In Platelet Count Reduction?
Hi doctor, I have undergone CABG early in 2010. since then i was asked to take Rosuvastatin calcium 10 mg,Clopidogrel 75mg,ecospirin 75 mg daily.is there any effect in future to my platelet count reduction due to this regular taking clopidogrel & aspirin? BP remains in acceptable range.Rvery 04 months lipid profile done. but recent report shows triglyceries 505 whilst other levels also in acceptable limits.03 ays per a week i do my exercises as well(45 mts).an u pse advice any additional drugs are required to take with duration,Thanks.
Hi, Clopidogrel and asprin are common drugs to take after having a CABG. They work by reducing the stickiness of platelets and therefore risk of further blockages occurring in your coronary arteries. They can, on very rare occasions, cause a reduction in your platelet count but this is in less than 1% of cases and is not a significant reduction in the count. You need to keep taking them unless your doctor advises otherwise.
