Taking Methadone For Heroin Addiction Treatment. Hepatitis C Kits Available For Home Use?
Just found out that my x whom Im supposed to see soon but havent in years is in treatment for heroin. Currently on Methadone. Im a nurse and am educated on risks but wanted to know other than the HIV kits that I can give in the home, are Hep c kits available for home or clinic use other than a normal blood test? How long should track marks be visible if hes quit? Last if the viral load test for HIV says negative can this be trusted and if not how many tests or for how long to be sure hes negative? He doesnt know Im aware.
HI thanks for your question. there hepatitis c kits available for clinic uses however each country has its own regulation I would recommend you consult country health office. Reliable test for hepatitis is PCR based on my experience. Usually if the first test for HIV is negative, you need to repeat after 3 months if its still negative you repeat after another 3 months if person is still negative then he is free from HIV, this is because HIV has window period. Hope I answered your question, will be happy to help you if you have more questions
